Activity: Sensory Treasure Hunt

Start off by filling a wide bowl with rice( or anything else that has the texture of sand and is not too messy)

Bury some coins in the bowl. Make sure you have different kind of coins and 2 or 3 or the same kind so that the can learn to compare coins and sort them.

Give them a couple of bowls to sort the coins.

That’s it! Start the treasure hunt.

Elijah was hesitant to use his hands at first, he didn’t like the feel of the rice but slowly as he was finding more and more coins, he was getting more excited and searching with his hands.

It is a good sensory activity too !

You can teach them to count and the value of the eachh coin as they find it, help them sort and even practice addition for older kids.
